Poetry

You have to be white to be privileged

An extract of a collaborative poem by Grace Bottrill and Chloe Clarke

Zero Hours

An extract of a spoken word poem by Grace Bottrill

Our world and lives ignite through colour

But somehow

We see one skin tone as duller

Than another.

There’s actually a lot of reasons why

But even if I tried

Explaining them all

There would be plenty more out there.

I am not a rich girl

By any stretch or smidge,

But my skin colour is my privilege...

For all those in dead end jobs, this is for you.

To all who, after wasting three years of your lives completing a meaningless degree

To end up waitressing for the foreseeable future, you’re not alone.

Some of these experiences are based on my own...
